As you may know, I’m never one to shy away from any property related questions, be it from landlords or tenants. Earlier this week I faced perhaps the most testing question I’ve ever been asked after 15 years in the property industry.
Anonymous Caller: Tracy, do the stairs in this property go up or down?
Well the immediate thought is to ask which floor you would be attempting to tackle the situation from, and to which floor you are attempting to proceed to. Stairs are a static form of transport, and the answer depends which floor you are attempting to reach.
If you are entering the property at ground level, and are proceeding to the first floor or higher, then you will most definitely be going up the stairs. If however you are proceeding into a basement area of the property, then the stairs are most certainly going to be taking you down.
So in short, the actual question is are you going up the stairs, or down the stairs?
May I ask which property it is that you’re enquiring about?
Anonymous Caller: The two bedroom ground floor apartment you have on Rightmove.
